i was woundering if people would be able to help me with the different suspension setups. (mainly for the front)
the diffs i want to use are range rover. if the setups doesnt allow me to use them i will use other diffs. i want to know the pros and cons of each setup. any help would be much appreciated

Are you talking ride heights, springs or spring types, geometry, linking etc etc? Its a huge question that will be better answered with a search on here and probably Pirate4x4.
There is no perfect setup that will cater for everything. You need to be WAAAY more specific about your requirememts, expectations and wishes.
There are textbooks and full on engineering degrees on this subject and it is really IMPOSSIBLE to cover EVERY type in one small thread on a 4WD forum.
Start off by reading through different makes sections and see the issues that come up with each type, this will give you the heads up on the limitations of each.

the suspention will be going into a land rover shorty with a rangie chassis.
one that works.
beer budget. if not alot of saving.
mainly off road use but needs to be road redgesterable.
i want to run either coil overs or air shock around the 16-18''.. im only fishing for ideas but anything will do

too many contradictions to even consider answering your question.
any coil over configuration with 16-18" of travel is going to cost!
Range Rover classic, Disco I, 110 and Defender have front suspension with coil springs, radius arms and a panhard rod. The rears have coil springs, lower trailing arms and upper A-frame. Some models have sway bars depending on year.
P38 rangies have air springs, not sure on other details.
Disco 2 have longer radius arms at the front, rear has radius arms and a Watts linkage, some rears have coil and some have air springs.
Some have ACE (active cornering enhancement) which works with actuators on the sway bars.
Have you spoken with an engineer to develop a plan of attack that will actually make this road registrable? If you are using a Range Rover Chassis why do you then need to rethink the suspension, why not work with rhe Rangies suspension set up. Flex is over rated if you are locked front and rear.

Be quiet Grimbo or you'll get yourself in trouble. Apparently it's not cool to point out the overratedness of flex in real world wheeling in an outers thread.
If you're no ententering tough truck ramp comp just stick with the standard rangie setup - they work really well with stock geometry and will make engineering waaaaay easier.
