I know of at least one 100 series that's been done, but anyone seen or heard of one being fitted into an 80 series ?
Does anybody know if the bell-housing is the same as any other of the Toyota boxes ?

The 100 series you're probably thinking of was the single turbo from a 70 series. The entire driveline was dropped in, which is what you will want to do.
The 1vd is a v8, so the position of the flywheel is much more forward in the engine bay, so that the heads clear the firewall. Thus the bellhousing on the v8's is much longer, as is the input shaft on the gearbox. However the gearbox internally is much the same as the 80 series.
Doing the 200 series twin turbo motor will be more complicated because of the electronics and immobiliser. Go the single turbo, and if you want more power look at a dp chip.

yeah, I've read the 100 series install a few times.
As I'll be starting with a bare cab, I'll have the option to place the motor back and modify the firewall., also plan to relocate the turbos with new exhaust manifolds a bit and use a front mount or liquid intercooler

Apart from the wiring headaches , although they may not be impossible, if you are using the 6 speed auto and transfer from the 200, the front output shaft on the transfer is on the left, not the right, like every other cruiser ever built. So flipping the front diff will come in to play. The rear diff is also centred on the 200, although this can be sorted pretty easily.
I say go for it mate, someone's gunna try it sooner or later

Electrics wise it would be doable, Would need to study some diagrams to see how hard it would be though. Worst case you may need to run the 200 series cluster, body control module, etc, Because it will all be on a CAN data bus.
would get a complete wreck so you have everthing you may need.
Or just drop in a duramax, prob same sort of dollars? and lot more power, and power potential. And electrics are easier. Will have an adapter for the allison 6spd auto to cruiser tcase available soon
