The non-turbo goes alright as long as your not in a hurry to get anywhere. This question has been talked about quite a bit on here and basically the general opinions are that they are sluggish especially in comparison to more modern diesels. However I do keep up with traffic in mine reasonably well, even taking off from lights and it gets up to 110 on the highway without to many problems...unless there is an uphill gradient...at all. Also they go for forever and a day as long as you service it regularly and keep the oil topped up, if you don't you can stuff the number 4 big end real quick.

I'd love to have more power, but then who the hell wouldn't? Just go drive a couple and see how it suits your style.

My son has one with a Safari turbo on it.
I can assure you that it is not slow - either in traffic or towing my 5.5 m boat.
