Tabor 9K winch- Brake issues.

Ive got a Tabor 9K winch that im rebuilding for a mate (at the same time that i rebuilt my XD9000 warn) and im trying to work out just how to set the brake up on it.

The warns got the standard 3 shoe cone brake, and found instructions for that, but the Tabor has a dual spring set up.

Not sure how the hell it goes back into the drum, i can get it in, but when i bolt the motor back on and power it up on the bench, with the gearbox engaged, it locks the brake on and stalls out the motor, with it disengated, it spins the drum at motor speed, indicating that the brakes jamming on.

Any advice on how to set this up before i have to resort to taking it to ARB to get it worked out?

Cheers!!

Riiiigggghhht.... This gets better.

Got it aligned right (so it disengages under power) and it lasted about 4 revolutions before the springs shattered :bad-words:

Rang ARB, They recon they dont deal with them... Which is a load of crap really...

So. Next question. Does the 3 shoe brake system from a Warn fit in a Tabor? im not really keen to dismantle my own winch to find out, but will if i have too. From what i can see, the motors have the same splines and protrusion length, and all you need to swap is the hex shaft and brake assembly.

Anyone able to save me some work?
