External speaker on TX3200

I've just mounted an external speaker to my gme tx3200 uhf & now the main speaker does't work. So its either one or the other. Is there a way to get both speakers working?

I dont think so sorry mate. Why do you need both speakers working if you have the external?

If your head unit has aux in, run a 3.5 audio cable from the speaker jack on the uhf to the aux in port. That way you have the uhf come through all the car speakers. I had to do this on the 40 as you can't hear a thing on the highway with a soft top through the stock uhf speaker.

Tip: Most uhf speaker out ports are mono, if you plug straight into your head unit you will only get left or right speakers. Buy a 3.5mm mono to stereo adapter and plug that into the uhf, then plug your stereo 3.5mm lead into the adapter and your head unit.

You can also buy a mono 3.5mm cable. If it only has one black ring on the plug it is a mono plug where as a stereo cable has two rings on it.

Absolutely, if you're happy to have audio through one side of the car only. I find that a little annoying.

Male mono to female stereo adapter is a cheap easy fix ($2) to use standard stereo aux cable and have it sound right.

If it's a mono cable used in a mono application it will send the same signal to both speakers though. A stereo cable used in an mono application will send signal to one side only, left or right. An adaptor is a great way to do it if you already have a stereo cable as it is a cheap and easy fix as you said, however if you are buying the cable you may as well just grab a mono one and piss off another link in the chain. It is a great way to be able to hear the radio though, especially in an old Toyota like mine...

WRONG! A stereo lead will cause the sound to come out of one side of the car when connected to a mono source, but a mono cable will send the signal to both left and right channels. Evski knows his stuff.

Oh no shit. I thought the aux port on the head unit needed to see a stereo jack to get signal to all speaker channels. So a mono cable from a mono source will send signal to left and right channels. Completely agree that's the easiest way to do it then if you don't already have a stereo cable for your phone/mp3 player.

Going a bit deaf was hoping for a bit of "suround sound" having both speakers working would be great.
