Auto G/box selection for manualising behind TD42

Post by rumpig89 »

I am building a gq ute up for everyday driving and heavy offroad use. I have decided i like the idea of having a manualised auto - mates auto gets great fuel economy and if i can manualise it like im imagining can be done it would be great offroad.

I know of alot of comp trucks that run auto boxes with great results. If i was to stay with the gq auto, is it possible to manualise with wiring in a two position control stick for gearing up and down when in 'manual' mode? As for those with manualised autos are you able to gear down and experience 'compression breaking' coming into corners/slowing down etc or is if of little effect for that purpose? - more for being able to choose and stick with the gear u want?

On the other hand if i was to go away from the standard gq auto and get something else, what is the go? I havent got any boxes at the moment so anything is an option. I want reliablility and control.

cheers
matt
