swap gq diffs into gu

Post by purplebus »

did a search and found a lot of info and have already done the gu into gq but have a chance to go the other way.

basically can get a hold of a cheap gu that will never be put on the road, eg farm wagon for carting bits on grass and will never be regoed. the owner will sell me the gu diffs and steer box complete for bugger all if i do the swap with my gq diffs/ steer box AS LONG AS IT DRIVES AND STOPS SAFELY. has anyone done this conversion. i can do it all and am only concerned about the braking ability. will it still brake ok or will we have to swap master/booster etc. wont bother doing it if it will be unsafe for him.
only the first roll hurts, then its a ride..

Hi mate, I've done GU into GQ and put GQ diffs under the doner diff vehicle they don't tend to brake very good because of the GU having twin piston etc, well that is what my experience was anyway. Probably better to swap all components. Hope this helps.
