Gassing a cherokee?

Post by Puk »

Hi guys,
Sorry i couldn't find this on search.
I just picked up a 96 XJ Cherokee Sport with 165,000 klms on it.
Are these a good candidate for an LPG conversion? (It is my DD as well as fun bus)

If so, does anyone have any idea of the approximate cost?

I know of a couple on gas, and yes they work fine, if its installed and tuned properly, just like any other LPG conversion.

As to cost, dont know, ring around and get some quotes?

XJ's are reasonably thirsty, esp if pushed or modded.
My friends aren't holding me back..... I'm pulling 'em forward.

Yeah,
I found out about their thirst already.
One quote i have received is for about $2000 after the $1500 rebate.
I think it will pay for itself pretty quickly though, and i plan on having it for a while.

Thanks,

My last beater Chero ran LPG.
Biggest issue IMHO is where to put the tank - especially if running dual fuel.
I have the scuba tanks in the back and had a plywood false floor over that.
Worked ok - but did rob a fair bit of room.

Yeah, that's the issue i have been looking at. There is little enough room with the spare in there as it is!
