hi,
i have just done an engine conversion on my gu from a tb45 to a td42 and want to run the standard temp gauge. i have read wiring diagrams and info from a work shop manual and it doesn't give me enough info to wire it to the temp gauge to the motor.
in the picture below i have circled the temp gauge on the back of the dash. i have worked out which wires i need to use but i don't know where to connect the cos+ and the sin+ wires.
does cos+ stand for constant power and does sin+ stand for signal or do they have a totally different meaning and where do i connect them to?
also on the td42 it has two temp sensors. one is a two wire sensor and the other is a single wire sensor. why does it have two sensors? do i need to have them both wired to the temp gauge to make it work correctly?
and info would be great.
thanks, lozz

hey mate, I have done the same conversion. What did you have to do with the wiring, did you use the diesel or petrol sender.
Re: wiring standard gu tb45 temp gauge to td42
after reading the workshop manual i had, i found that a yellow wire with a red stripe goes down to the ecu. i ran a wire from the temp sensor to that yellow wire with the red stripe and joined it down at the ecu plug. i did take a photo of it but can't get it off my phone. but if you find that wire at the ecu plug and then do a continuity test up at the plug on the instrument cluster to make sure you have the right one. i will find out which plug and what pin it is and let you know.
i have used td42 temp sendor but will be running an aftermarket gauge to make sure the standard gauge is reading correctly.
i still haven't worked out what the second temp sendor with the 2 wires is for. to make the temp gauge work it only needs the temp sendor with the single wire.
hope that helps, lozz
