Getting Synchro rings working properly

Post by mattmudpig »

Hello all, I have an 80 series and hilux G52 gearbox to rebuild, I wanted some advice on how to treat the synchro ramps on the gears to ensure that the syncro rings operate correctly. Some methods are lapping paste, glass bead blasting the ramp or mounting the gears seperately in the lathe and bringing some coarse paper up to them, all methods will deglaze the surface but what works best for you, any advice will be greatly appreciated
