GM perfomance crate motor wiring kits

Post by killalux »

Hey all,
Just wanted to see if anyone else has used the GM performance parts crate motor wirng kit for the LS2 engines? Would like some other opinions on them.

I fitted one to a vehicle last week (was suplied by customer).

Firstly the loom was rubbish, wiring length were all to long, had harness looped up and tied up all over the place to make it fit nice, is designed to have ECU mounted outside which makes it hard to get the ECU wiring through the firewall nicely. Fusebox is quite large and bulky, And has no mounting tabs.

Secondly the ECU is supposed to be programmed to suit that engine, Well the engine fired by was overfuelling that much that the engine would not idle, would barely rev up, Definatly not drivable. So therefor needs to be fully tuned before it can be drivin. The tacho signal and fan operating temps can not be altered with EFI live like most GM controllers.

Also spare parts will be hard to find locally. O2 sensors, throttle pedal and airflow meters are all US only items, Can't use commodore stuff which is easy to buy.

In my opinion I would not recomend anyone use these kits.

Please note this is not a plug for the harneses that I do, Just letting people know that the GMPP kits are not the way to go IMO.

Have you checked fuel pressure? - had the same problem with mine and the pressure was way high.
