I've been reading the posts and this is a great site indeed. Verify informative and I've learned a lot.
I do have question to the guru's here.
I'm from the PH and own a LWB SD33TD MK series 5 speed box stock. I've beeen doing some light trailing and i've always encountered centering my patrol. I was hoping that you guys could help me out to increase my clearance. I have a mechanic down here who's been planning to do an SOA on my patrol however from what i've read fitting 33's is no problem at all with a basic 2" body and 2" suspension lift.
Questions:
- What do you use for a 2" body lift? is it true that you can actually use roller blade wheels for this?
- How do I gain a 2 inch suspension lift? Do I have to change my stock springs with aftermarket springs? or is there a way that I can use my old springs?
- What brand of leaf springs do you suggest?
- When do you regear? what tire size requires regearing?
- What would be easier to do, spoa or 2" body 2" suspension without affecting drivability (on road performance for long driving)
Currently my front shackles are extended by 4 inches and thats it, that's the reason why my patrol looks high up front compared to the back.
I have no plans of going hard core off-roading but merely a capable trail vehicle. My rig is mostly onroad than offroad, well, a weekend trail vehicle that is.

i only have a two inch body lift on mine and the tyres only scrub when i am revsing with my wheels at full lock and the back is heaps higher than the front (gradient of road), you can get a body lift kit from chezzy in melbourne (all bolts and spacers) for around 100 i sure shipping wont be much

U dont need any lift to fit 33's and if u have shackle lift u r fine, this pic is of my new patrol, its stock as a rock and on 31's.
33's only increase the the gap in that guard 1 inch. As u can see they will easily fit.
Body lifts can be done with a polypropylene substance like wat is used in boat rollers, or u can use steel blocks or allow blocks. Makes little difference. Body lifts are easy.
Spring lift is just more leaves or curveir springs.
If u got ur standard springs reset u may gain up to an inch of added lift.

38.5" is a tad tall for the stock gearing but certainaly not "undrivable, the main conversion you should consider is diff centre change if fitting tyres that size. I run 35"s and have no dramas gearing wise at all.

I had two blow outs last weekend on separate instances thus I was forced to buy a set of 32's on my rig ASAP...o well there goes my plan of slapping 33 MT's....anyways...
can anyone please post a photo of their front and rear extended shackles? or can someone direct me to a link please? I was planning to make my own but would need a pattern to have it done...what is the max length of both shackles without compromising safety and drivability...

Sorry...I know you guys are way too techy to even look into this ..but i really need your help...
anyways..i just had my shackles extended today 2x as long as the original for both front and back...
my front had some limiting factors...1) shocks -no question here...just purchase 2" longer shocks...
2) stabilizer link? I'm not sure if thats the one...it restricts the down travel of my front axle...its either I lower my stabilizer link mount or fabricate a longer stabilizer link...which among the two would least affect drivability?
I would really appreciate your feedback.

When u say driveability do u mean offroad or onroad?
Remove swaybar for offroad driveabiliy and vice a versa...
Lengthening shackles is illegal in NSW. If is about the only lift mod that will not get engineered.
As long as u change your castor angles to suit, you can lift at you own plessure, ussually not much more than about 3 to 4 inches longer max..
