Re: Hysteer for 80 series
Those knuckles will be a much better option than the Marks ones, that I think have really missed the boat, especially with the pricing.

Re: Hysteer for 80 series
thanks for the kind words guys.
product is still being tested while production is under way. they're getting some good beating and i have yet to tighten a steering arm stud. i used to have to tighten them a few times per trip but these havent loosened or moved in 5 trips.
i'm glad i went with this knuckle design after seeing a broken stock knuckle on my old rig. the studs held up but it blew out the bottom of the knuckle. this new knuckle has a ton of beef where the arm attaches to it so i'm not worried about the failures that a stock knuckle can see.
U.S. pricing will be around $850 (hopefully less if i can work that out) for a complete set of knuckles, arms, and necessary hardware. locktup will be selling these to youguys but i'm not sure of pricing in your neck of the woods just yet.
thanks for any and all interest in these. you wont be disappointed.

Billy wouldn't costing be lowered if you made them similar to the 6 shooter knuckles that trailgear sell? By that I mean making both knuckles interchangable. Having both left and right caliper tabs fitted to the one knuckle? Then you only need to have the one casting and one machining set up. Or is there something about the 80 knuckle that wont allow this?
Re: Hysteer for 80 series
Bring them on billy. I have been following the manufacture and waiting until they are released. Im definately down for a set. Any chance of an early set for a trial run here in aus?

Re: Hysteer for 80 series
Yeah, I looked at them ages ago. But as it says you have to send your knuckle in (meaning over sea's). Didnt give it another look. Ive even designed my own. Its like jmac's but it incorperates the brake bolt (like cranky's) and also the full steering lock bolts. To stop any sheer affects. Thats as far as I got. Ive been following this build on another forum for a while with baited breath. Hopefully they arent too expensive, but they look the goods. I especially like the fact they have a bolt to adjust king pin preload.
Re: Hysteer for 80 series
Those Trailgear knuckles with both caliper mounts sound like a good idea. Does that mean it is possible to fit two calipers on one disc? That would be a good way to get heave cruiser with 35s to pull up. I'm looking at something like that for my 80 diff conversion.

Mine pulls up great but there is always room for improvment when it comes to brakes. Safety first. LOL

Re: Hysteer for 80 series
no but it expands a shit load less than rubber which is all you would get for $650.Shadow wrote:does brai9ded line expand less than steel lines????TheBigBoy wrote:Full braided brake line kit $650 with dot 5 world of difference.
be careful when changing to dot 5, it HATES glycol fluid.... make sure you flush the system VERY good and make sure if someone else is servicing your car/ brakes that they know it has dot 5
turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown
Re: Hysteer for 80 series
so replacing those short pieces of rubber lines, for $650, makes a noticable difference to your braking?chunderlicious wrote:no but it expands a shit load less than rubber which is all you would get for $650.Shadow wrote:does brai9ded line expand less than steel lines????TheBigBoy wrote:Full braided brake line kit $650 with dot 5 world of difference.

Re: Hysteer for 80 series
The rubber hoses from the diff to the chassis and from the steel lines to the calipers can expand alot under pressure. Braided hoses do not expand and are alot more wear and heat resistant. You get a much more confident firm feeling brake pedal too.

Re: Hysteer for 80 series
But $650 is a big ask.
