79 series gearbox

Post by Glux »

G'day all I'm wanting to know weather the bigger stronger gearbox out of a 80 series or factory turbo 79 will fit in a 1hz 79 series? If so what's involved in doing the conversion?

The box will bolt straight on and do believe the spline for the clutch is the same. The gear selector should be in the same spot. The range leaver however is different on the 80 compaired to the 70 series. Some 80 series h150 have the posts required for the range leaver to suit 70 series but no tapped holes (mine).don't know about the crossmember for gearbox. Do believe the shafts will bolt straight on.
