Opened gearbox

Post by Lawrence »

I had changed gearbox last year for the current one, however it seems like the current one has bad synchros on the 4 gear. My problem with the first one was that the fourth speed just refused to go in even when the engine was off. I am going to replace the box i have in now at the end of the month, but I was considering fixing the first instead of going with one i have already identified. I decided to open the box yesterday, but not sure what i am looking for, even though i have a manual. What should i be looking for?

Could be several causes.
Collapsed bearing.
Bent shift rail.
Bent or broken selector fork.
