Re: Lokka
Is your 100 fulltime AWD? GXL or STD?
If it's a diesel standard it will be shweet you'll learn to live with it around corners etc after a while.
When I was looking for lockers I got new Air-Leakers installed for $1200 each and a lokka was $799 plus fitting at the time but now there are under $500 yeah?

Re: Lokka
Won't work with AWD, better to go an air-leaker.
You could look at a part time kit but all the owners that have fitted them from here say they aren't worth the time or money as fuel economy doesn't improve so an air-leaker would cost less than a Lokka and a part time kit.

Re: Lokka
I looked at the e-locker but I think the air lockers are just more widely known and better parts prices and availablity.
I went with the tyre inflation kit but unless the new compressors are better I would probably just get the basic compressor as mine takes far too long it's only really useful for an emergency.

Re: Lokka
Does yours have an LSD rear if so you could put the first locker in the front. With LSD rear, Locker up the front and say a 3" lift it would be awesome offroad.

Re: Lokka
My Experience would be the front end (including CV's) last longer. Nothing destroys a CV like having a wheel up in the air spinning like crazy then crashing back down on a rock.
Anyone else want to chime in here. But I would go with the front.

Re: Lokka
I'm curious as to why you say a lokka won't work in the rear of a full time vehicle?
You don't install them in the front because they can affect the steering.

The worst part about being told you have Alzheimer's, is that it doesn't just happen once.
Re: Lokka
AWD makes a front lokka engage all to often but has no different affect on a rear having said that the rear may engage when you dont want it to regardless of it being all wheel drive or part time it will require a different driving style to prevent it engaging because they will engage if you accelerate to hard around a tight corner

Re: Lokka
man hunt around hard on the arb airlocker pricing. or look at buying one in the states and bringing it into aus.
then ring some reputable diff/ gbox shops about installing. it should save you some $$.
i bought one for the rear of an 80 series new for $888+GST 3 yrs back.
i had compressor already.
and install didnt cost alot. last time it took a cluey bloke an hour on abit of cardboard at tufftruck.
got a new compressor last yr cost $252 i believe.
so if you hunt arbout you should have one installed for $1500. i know its alot more then a lokka but its heaps better IMO.

but if it saves you a buck then import one.
get your base price which seems like its $1200.
then ring another store in the area and get them to beat it.
keep an eye on ebay stores etc.
