Styleside dual cab ute chop to my 80 series

Post by YOGI001 »

Hi all,

Has any one ever seen a style side ute chop to an 80 series. I am making it a dual cab and need some advice before the cut. I like the look of tube trays but I have never seen this done apart from with a hilux tub.

If anyone has any advice or pictures of one completed it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers Guys.

I've seen some neat single cab styleside 80's, but I think a dual cab would not look right without a wheelbase extension

I thought it looked awesome but Beauty is in the eye of the beholder i guess.

I sold it as pictured to help fund Bob. A bloke in melb bought it after he stuffed up trying to do a dual cub cut him self. He had it mounted and running a week after he got it. I belive it is white now but i have never seen any pics of it.

Scroll down about halfway there is a shot of an 80 rear bar and its a dual cab styleside. Looks good in my opinion.

Look single cab to me, still pretty neat.

That's a nice car for sure, but I am with some others, 80 series just don't look right when uted, other than plain single cab with tray.

Something about the body shape doesn't lend itself to cutting longer than a single cab and the styleside looks iffy.

Compared to a GQ single or extra cab they just look wrong.

Just personal opinion BTW.

There is 2 single cabs on this website.....

http://www.toyhatsu.com.au/WebPage/WebPage.asp?Ref=2937" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The first is a tad hard to see, but looks a tad crap IMHO

The second looks sweet....

The 100 series looks the goods, but the amount of $$ spent it bloody well should.

looks like it has been really well done, but still, the proportions don't work in my eyes. Reminds me of the little Suzuki Mightyboy utes, can barely fit a lunch box in the back :D

Thanks for all your reply's guys. I am kind of thinking I will just keep it for a bit longer and then upgrade.

What do 1991 HDJ80's go for these days with under 300km's on it. It might be up for sale now that circumstances might be changing for me.
