100 Series Mirrors + fuel economy
Hi All
Well, the wife still loves her 1999 model 100, but misses some of the interior appointments that the previous NM Pajero and even GU Patrol had. The cup holders and storage areas way up the back are brilliant, but she misses the vanity mirrors in the sun visors.
Did they appear in later 100's? And if so, what year 100's so I can get them from a wroeckers and stop her bleating!
It's a petrol auto, so was thinking about an dual fuel LPG conversion and the part time 4wd conversion available. Is the P/T 4wd conversion worth it in terms of fuel economy?

Re: 100 Series Mirrors + fuel economy
Part time 4wd kit doesn't effect fuel consumption unfortunately.
Re: 100 Series Mirrors + fuel economy
x2 been lots of threads on it. Save the $700ish and use it on fuel. Same with the gas kit for a good setup with dual maps and oil infection you'll pay a pretty penny so maybe save the money and use it on fuel and avoid problems caused by gas setups.
I'm not quitting drinking, I'm retiring at the top of my game - sporting comeback likely.
Re: 100 Series Mirrors + fuel economy
ahh that old chestnut this comes up all the time, I am yet to see anyone post real economy figures before and after conversion to justify any change in economy, a few people claim it improves economy, most will say it makes no difference.bigbluemav wrote: Is the P/T 4wd conversion worth it in terms of fuel economy?
you can buy a fair bit of fuel with the $$$ needed for the conversion

Re: 100 Series Mirrors + fuel economy
The only real bonus i can see(and in my opinion ) is spinning the rear tyres up on the sand etc.
it can be a little annoying seeing all your mates spinning the rears up and goofing around while your stuck in AWD D:

Thanks Guys
I usually inhabit the Nissan Tech sections, so I'm still learning about wifey's 100.
It is a very nice car, nice to drive a car that doesn't shake the sh*t out of the steering wheel 80-100km/h!
I'll have a look at the wreckers for a 2003 onwards 100 for the sun visors.
What about cup inserts in the cup holder in the centre console?

Re: 100 Series Mirrors + fuel economy
Part time kit = minimal fuel saving and nothing to write home about, Maybe 1lt per 100km if lucky. Go the LPG conversion for money savings, when I got mine done in my 80 saved over $800 in 6 months doing 100km a day, 5 days a week. Note im running 35's and 6" lift
1993 80 series, 4" tough dog adjustable bb lift kit, LPG, 35" MTR'S

there is a removeable centre section to the cup holders, if its the same as my 2003 GXL. The centere section can be positioned in 3 spots (even sided, or 1 big side, 1 small side) and has arms that swing out(click out to suit whatever cup)
maybe your missing this part?

Yeah, I'd say it must be missing 'cos the holes there atm the moment are WAAAY too big for anything smaller than a bucket! I've got to go to the wreckers to look at the sun visors ('03 onwards apparently!) with the vanity mirrors, so I'll check there for the cup inserts too.
What are the proven strategies for improving fuel economy with these motors? I'm up on stopping my ZD30 GU from blowing up, but I'm lost on improving fuel economy on wifey's 'cruiser!

Re: 100 Series Mirrors + fuel economy
My 2000 mdl 100 series has the vanity mirrors with lights and cup holders front and back etc etc. I have had a couple of 1FZ engines,
Service and tune helps economy,
Extractors and exhaust more power, hardly and difference to economy.
Gas is the way to go. Halves running costs.
There should be 2 cup holders in the centre consol that are adjustable to suit a number of sized bottles, cups etc.
