coverting gu ute leaf sprung to coil..

hi guys, i have a gu ute with leaf sprung rear i have 3 inch lift i am looking into converting to coil for comfort an touring. i know it will be a big job an i want to keep the diff, has this been done? whats involved an who does this?at the moment im researching to see if its worth it an dont tell me to buy a coil ute ! thanks for any help.

Just do a little searching, their is a really good Looong post on here from one of our customers who fitted our gear into a leaf spring patrol, by the feedback and photos it turned out pretty good, from what i remember it was long arms, dobinson coils, upper control arms ect.
One of these guys on here will point you in the right direction of the post hopefully.

I can do this with all the factory mounts welded to your chassis and diff for around $1000... from memory though you will have probs with d.o.t...

get a rear half cut chassis and cut out/copy onto your current frame. i know two blokes that have done it. i took the easy way out and bought two coil y60s

...and as for mub4b saying you'd have problems getting d.o.t. for it - it came factory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In qld transport dept eyes NO it did not come factory, from factory that vehicle in particular was leaf sprung not coil... Im not saying it cant be done or approved to be legal but as said from memory there is hassles.
