12ht loosing power on steep incline

Post by stilivn »

Have been helping an old bloke out with his 60 series lately, changed all the belts the other day, anyways he tells me for the past year or 2 he has had troubles with it loosing power on a rather steep hill, having to go back to first or second gear. Now my question is has anyone else had this problem and found a solution or is there a filter near the fuel tank that may need replacing. Turbo has been tested and car put on dump, no issues. It only seems to be happening under load on a steep incline.

start with the basics, check the air filter, fuel filter (some injection pumps have a filter screen where the furl line banjo bolts on to the pump) check for any blockage at the fuel pick up in the fuel tank. check for boost leakage, check turbo for problems.
How long since injectors were checked?

theres a water seperator on the inside of the chassis rail in the area of the back doors pull the plug out and drain the water out the diaphram in the injector pump (boost compensator) mite be shot when under boost is not opening the rack up due to the diaphram not sealing check that the vacum line on the injector pump has not come off the boost compensator if it had a pyro it'd tell you but those things are easy to do

cheers matt
