Post by morewheeldrive »

Got a turbo charger from an isuzu truck 4.3L diesel. Thinking about adapting
It to my td42 instead of the t3 I was originally planning on running. Thoughts?

only if you want really early strong boost.

the reason being these isuzu engines only peak rev at about 3000 and start to boost at 1200 so basically unless you plan to never rev your car over 2800 i wouloden't worry bacause it will run out of legs high range.

Dam, I just want a little more poke and some more Balls to get it up hills at
More than 70kph. I know the disco potato is the go but they so expensive. Do you reckon the t3 I have from a skyline would get me out of trouble?

IF you already have it worth a try if it isnt going to cost you much. If its more for a bit of extra grunt on road. Then running out of puff after 3000rpm isnt a huge issue. As even in 4th it doesnt rev above 3000rpm at 100km/h (from memory).
Even if the turbo is from a Isuzu that runs out of puff at 3000rpm. Thats probably more an engine design. If fitted to a TD42 there is no reason why the engine still want rev to 4500rpm. Its just the turbo might become very inefficient.

As for the Disco potato, I know of a couple of people with them fitted and they seem quite happy with them. And there fitted to TD42's.
