just wondering if anyone has had experiance with afr and brodix ally cylinder heads ? looking for a good set of heads for a 350 and these two brands have popped up,thanks

You could also try http://www.my105.com there are several ex V8Supercar head sets on there at the moment, depending on what your looking at spending.

Depending on quite a few things such as budget, power required, what rpm the power is required etc. There are many options.
Here is a link to Edelbrock heads for SBC. As you can see there are many & varied heads for different applications/budget.

You can't just throw a set of alloy heads on & expect to make great HP.
An engine needs to be a complete package to work well. What specs are the bottom end, camshaft etc?
What manifold/carby/efi?
What is the engine to be used for?
All the above questions need to be answered before you can select what heads will suit your application.

thanks for that,its bored 30" over running hypertecnic flat tops,not sure of the cam specs off hand(only fairly mild) with 64cc combustion chamber heads it will have approx' 10.5-1 compresson ratio,weiand stealth dual plane intake,750 d/pump holley.will get used for towing as well as every day driving etc,am hoping to get between 350 and 400hp am now looking at a set of edelbrock performer rpm heads?.MICK77 wrote:Depending on quite a few things such as budget, power required, what rpm the power is required etc. There are many options.

I got just shy of 300hp out of a 360 ci with std cast heads, stock compression and a 470cfm carb....cam was a towing/LPG grind, very close to stock.
With higher comp, 750 carb and alloy heads, the power TW is seeking should be not out of reach, or damn close to it.

You want low-mid range, not mid-upper rev power..... a 650 would be better, on a dual plane manifold

I would consider a Holley 750 carb, but a vacuum secondary, not a double-pumper.
If I were building a SBC for a 4x4, I would also look at a 4x4 cam or a light RV cam, and not get too silly with cylinder heads.
As GUTripper said - you want low-mid range torque, not all-out power.
