nissan 4.8l vs ls1/ls2
nissan 4.8l vs ls1/ls2
hi there i am looking at changing motors in my gq its a toss up betwen a nissan patrol 4.8l inline six and a ls1/ls2 now my question is what will the cost be to do one or the other and what one is easyer then the other
Re: nissan 4.8l vs ls1/ls2
I think LS1 would be roughly the same price as 4.8, Because you need to run aftermarket ECU on the 4.8, which will be costly.

Re: nissan 4.8l vs ls1/ls2
To remove the rb30 from my patrol and replace with a tb48 and Autronics Sm4 ecu cost me $7000, I got Steve-Killalux to connect the wiring, Pits to do the tuning and Exteme mmm to sort me out with a clutch. The rest of the work was done myself and friends. Last time on the Dyno made 220rwhp. Not sure how much a ls1 ls2 would make. I like the tb48, but go fast bits are exspensive, chances of finding cheap bits at the wreckers is small. Chevy engines and go fast bits are easy to find.
The manual tb48 engines are fairly easy to retro fit into a gq, Auto gearbox model engines would require a lot of work or an after market ecu to work.
If I was to do the same again think I would go a Ford XR6 turbo engine or chevy Ls3. Unless I had the coin to go strait for the tb48 turbo.

Anything is possible, it just comes down to time and money.
