To all the owners of 40/45 series out there which is the best engine to replace the 2f with?
will be driven on the road mainly with the rest just getting to camping grounds maybe a bit of beach work. Currently have the 2f with standard 4 speed and ratios.
Happy to put in a 5 speed also.
Which engines would be best in your experiences.
Doesn't have to be in rocket either. I found a thread on ih8mud about putting a 3f head on a 2f block? but not sure if its just a US thing or not
Any help would be good cheers.

Re: 45/40 series engine replacement
Where in tassie are you from? I live on the nw coast and have a 40 too, im doing what you are talking about using a 3fe head on the 2f so its fuel injected, im also turbocharging mine at the same time. what motor you go for depends on what you will use it for and what your budget is.
Re: 45/40 series engine replacement
why do you want to replace the 2f? it'd give us a good indication of what your chasing. the 2f is decent enough if healthy.
My personal choice would be a fuel injected 4.0 litre falcon straight 6, preferably AU VCT, but anything from EB onwards is practically the same. Nice lazy torque monster. cheap as chips. pretty hard to kill

dont really want to replace the 2f just looking at options. not really in a hurry to get anywhere so it will do fine.bad_religion_au wrote:why do you want to replace the 2f? it'd give us a good indication of what your chasing. the 2f is decent enough if healthy.

with the falcoon 6 is it straight bolt in or not. haven't had much of a look about it yet either.
cheers

Like any of the engine swaps, you'll need a conversion kit to adapt your bellhousing and your engine mounts.tasman wrote:dont really want to replace the 2f just looking at options. not really in a hurry to get anywhere so it will do fine.bad_religion_au wrote:why do you want to replace the 2f? it'd give us a good indication of what your chasing. the 2f is decent enough if healthy.

12HT?
I'd rather be biologically honest, than politically correct.
