80 series comp truck gearbox issues

Post by Jimmy-jam »

My 80 keeps popping out of 1st and 2nd gear when I'm in low range goin down hills with no throttle or brakes, would anyone know what is causing this problem because my navy keeps getting cranky when I tell h to hold it in gear lol

does it have a body lift?

if so thats the first place i would look.

My 80 kept doing the same thing (but it was only 2nd and 4th that i had problems with) and it was the rubber boot causing it to jump out, too much tension on it.

sounds like it might be a bit more serious with urs being 1st and 2nd.. but u know what they say! start with the simple shit first!

Yeah sounds like what mine was doing. The vibrations and the gears not smeshing propperly after my gearbox rebuild. Took it back to the shop. Dont know exactly what they did. But its rock solid now.

Try changing the cup and seat on the gearstick. Cheap and easy if your gearstick flops around in gear this will fix it.
