Rust. You definitely need to check out the entire cab & chassis for any rust it may have. Specifically in these models, the passenger and drivers firewall. My 82 had no rust except for these spots were they are well know to rust. Mechanically, check for any leaks, all the basics. The hubs were also known to leak in the early models. Also, if the hilux you're looking at has a v6, this won't be legal for you to drive on your P's if you are in QLD. Just incase.

79 hilux didnt come with v6.
Might want to check the mod is legal and done properly
79 must be one of the first luxes off the boat to Aus!
