Pneumatic bumpstops in the rear

Post by gudge »

Guys, chasing some pictures of your rear pneumatic bumps stops mounted up. Preferably with coil overs aswell. Seen a few with the cans mounted in the chassi and like that idea but not sure how to go about it. I'm just trying to plan the lay out of my rear suspension on the mwb patrol

Who's the best guy to talk to about them? Mounting them outside the chassis like the hilux brooksy is building isn't really an option, with the tires being so close. Am keen to mount the can in the chassis but how do I make it so it can still be tightened up on the hydrostop?

And builds anyone has seen them in?

Can't mount them inside the chassis?

Want to mount my coil overs as wide as possible on the diff, probably underneath the chassis rails. So inside the chassis isn't really an option

Brett from Custom Offroad might be worthwhile getting in touch with, im pretty sure he has the chasis notched to fit the stops in the Silver Bullet, if not maybe Toughnut on here has done this in his old rig?

I haven't done it yet but the ones that I've seen and the way I'm looking at doing it to my rig is to have them only set half into the chassis which means you only have to move the diff base outboard a couple of centimeters. You can't put them inboard of the chassis because it conflicts with the diff mounts of the shocks and coil overs if you're running them.

I have only partially notched my cans into the chassis on the outside of the rail. When viewing from the top they are about 30mm cut into the chassis with a slight lean outwards at the bottom. So maybe only 20mm cut into the chassis at the bottom if that makes sense. Works a treat and tightens up on the bumpstop with no problems. Not sure where, maybe fatz, but I have seen half of the can in the chassis and they still tighten up fine.

Rito then. That's all the convincing I need, Notching the chassis to mount the stops. Will put a build up in members covering the swap to coil overs when all the gear arrives. That way you can keep an eye on me and make sure I don't do anything dumb.
