tb42 head problems
tb42 head problems
My patrol is pumping water out of my radiator on start up so i'm gathering I have done a head gasket but i have been told it is more likely the head itself. Is this a common thing for there to be head problems rather then gaskets or is it just crap I have been told. Any help would be great cheers.
Re: tb42 head problems
either way you have got to pull the head off so once its apart inspect and see if you have to go further it could just be the gasket
Re: tb42 head problems
search ingear industries when you get the head off. They are in Yatala, and probly the best when it comes to crack testing heads and engine rebuilds or head reconditioning. The fellah owns the business and works with his brother, good knowledge and a very good price. goodluck.
P.S. Rumours say that tb42's crack heads quite often. Especially when on gas.

Re: tb42 head problems
You would really want to get the head tested.
We had a similar issue with a tb42, pulled the head off. The head looked fine, and the gasket looked finished. Replaced the gasket, and the same problem still existed.
Given the common nature of heads cracking, you might aswell get it tested while its all apart.

Re: tb42 head problems
very common to crack around number 6 cylinder ... i had my head pimped out to cope with straight gas and turbo ... the grub screws were removed and welded , the water galleries were re worked amongst other things , and use genuine nissan head bolts and gasket , a must !!
