Locker on a 4.2 Ute

Post by connie1989 »

HI

I have a 1999 GU DX 4.2L Patrol ute and am looking at getting a locker fitted in the next month.

I have been recommended to get a rear locker as the guy from ARB said the LSD will be shot ( even though it only has 170 000 KMS)

what is everyones thoughts?

I would of thought the LSD would be right for a few more years so a front locker would be better.

The rear lsd should be fine it will be more beneficial to go front locker and tighten the lsd (re/shim ) if required it wont let you down

Front for sure.
Theyre just trying to sell you the rear because they know you'll be back for the front as its more benificial.

Tell that bloke at ARB to stop playing with himself and give you some real advice instead of trying to better his sales record.

My GQ has done 310k with no diff change ever, and its still tight as. Awesome engineering in the Nissan diffs.

Front locker for now and when time $$ permit, pull the rear out and have it reshimmed, you wont need a rear locker.
Get out there!!
