fourby trip ...photos start page five

Post by lowndsie »

Just getting an idea to see who would be interested in a fourby trip to Gardens of stone national park which starts out at Ben Bullen NSW and ends up at Lithgow. Already have about a few people including a fez and two hilux's and a four runnner.

Probably in about three weeks time if the numbers are good.

List of people so far.....

Paul
Andrew
John
Tiny
Glen
Sam
Luke
Owen

Which trip are you talking about? The run from Newnes back to Zig Zag, or the other way, or something else entirely?

Nah it starts a little farther out than newes and works back towards lithgow.

I just wanna clear up that it's not the most challenging track and its more of a get together. if anyone knows any tracks around newes, we could work our way towards newes and end up there no problems. If we do that then i guess we need someone to know newes because i've never been there.

anyway, the more the merrier and an early start would be the best i should think.

I have driven a lot up there, especially around Zig Zag, and the beginning of the park. You are right, there isnt a lot on that road, if you want some other interesting tracks there is Lisdale State forest over the other side of the highway, and around Lake Lyell. There are some intersting bits in there...

Anyway, I should b there... let us know when.

Jason, I think this thread is gonna get full of chit very quick...

Might be a good idea to edit the first post to names of those keen to come along, thus members can see the crowd before wading through all the ribbing and teasing involved with a day out with the lads... :D

Oh, and paul... I know what you meant, but if i remember correctly, you got the winch treatment, I just got the snatch... :finger: :finger:

Just how long in klms do you guys think this trip is going to be?

I need to know how many jerry cans to bring with me for the thirsty one.

Mine's a 94 widetrack, nothing outlandish, I replaced the motor a while ago with a Jap import model (blew the other one).

15X7 white steelies with 235/75 Pirelli All terrains, snorkel, long shackles, two inch rear springs should arrive tomorrow or thurs, new nitrogen shocks, few other bits and pieces. When the springs arive ill bump the torsions up further, then considering a body lift and 31's, but concerned about the loss of reduction with ig tyres.

Have a look on page 2 of members thread.

Where are you up to mate? Are you planning to have the tyres by then?

mines still standard other than fitting a bullbar, spotties and a UHF.

wont have the tyres by then but i dont think i'll have too many dramas with the ones on there now. still enough grip in them for the track i mentioned....

how do you think my standard will go on the tracks you mentioned in newes?

If I am thinking of the right trail, you speak of the Blackfellows hand trail, and roads such as this...

If so, there isnt a lot that can go wrong here, but if you are keen I can show you some interesting ones, near the mines. If you havent driven before, you will be surprised how far a stock feroza will go...

You mentioned you live at Lisdale, have you driven the powerline tracks from Lisdale pine forest to the back of lake lyell??? There are some fun ones in there that I admit took a few shots when my car had road tyres and no mods at all. These are good fun.
