Tough Tracks 4x4 Challenge Series-Round 2

Post by ToughTracks4wdClub »

Tough Tracks 4x4 Club will be holding Round 2 of their annual Tough Tracks 4x4 Challenge Series at Landcruiser Mountain Park on the 9th & 10th of June 2012 (Queens Birthday Long weekend).
This is a technical short course non timed event with 4 classes of vehicle from Stock "Trophy" class through to our "Outlaw" Class.
Check out our website for current 2012 rules. http://www.toughtracks4x4.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
ALL vehicles who wish to compete in this event MUST be scrutineered prior to competing.
I suggest that if you are going to be scrutineered on the day please read the rules carefully and dont assume that if it isn't written that you can do what you want, you can talk to the chief scrutineer Peter Kitchin (0433555430) or Ben English (0418222722) directly if you have any questions or alternatively you can email us at info@toughtracks4x4.com
If you live around the Brisbane area you need to contact Peter Kitchin on the above number and organize to get your vehicle scrutineered at a time that suits him and you.
If you have any further questions you can PM us here or email Tough Tracks 4x4 Club at info@toughtracks4x4.com or phone Ben English 0418 222 722.
We will be holding 1 more Round this year.
Round 3 will be at The Springs 4x4 Park on 8th-9th September.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Regards

The floods last year stripped out some big rocks that I have been itching to throw Challenge class through. Should be a good weekend.

The competitors from Challenge class are all very close in points. I reckon they all have a shot at an overall position for the year if they have a crack at all three rounds. Hope to see them all back. Very good quality driving at Round 1, hope to see more of it.

Surely if we havent touched our rigs since round 1 we dont have to get it checked out again? All I have done/doing is moving the tranny cooler.

Can you guys please confirm what the go will be with park entry for competitors and their tow rigs.
Have heard rumors of people having to pay for their tow rigs even tho they sit at camp with car trailer still attached for the whole weekend and never move.

You're right, if you have been scrutineered, you will not require scrutinering again, unless you make some major changes before round 2.

The deal with the park is going to be confirmed later in May. All I can say for now is that competitors get well looked after in SSS winch, hopefully we get the same. I would highly recommend pre-paying for this event though so a competitors list can be provided to the office.

Stay tuned for more info as it becomes available.

Competitors should not have too pay More then we do! We pay to put on the Show dor them to charge to See! It cost us fuel, time away from family, breakages, time of work, etc. Let's face it, I love competing and have rejoined tough tracks so I can but this shits me up the wall. With out us they wouldn't get the numbers they do. And when the deal is done it needs too stuck too by the parks and not changed when we get there like emu creek.
I understand vechiles that move round the park paying (insurance) but charging for a tow rig an as I hear it trailers at LCMP is just greed.

Took me a bit to cypher you post Benny but I agree
This is one of the reasons I am not as much a fan of LCMP the past 5-6yrs as some of the costs are just down right BS !! The thing is if roads in LCMP are supposed to be gazetted they cannot charge you because in theory doesn't that mean public roads ???

C'mon guys, let the club have discussions with LCMP first before we get our nickers in a knot.

We will post up the results of these discussions - but as Rick says above - pre-paying for the event will allow us to provide a list of competitors to the office to ensure that any deal that we agree upon is provided to the right people.

It's all good Pete, besides i dont know about you i wear jocks or boxers :finger: but it is a good point brought to the clubs attention as it is a common sore point with previous competitors that have been to LCMP in the past which has been overlooked by organisers.

Guys as Peter said don't get your nickers/boxers/trunks or in some guys cases g string in a knot about the LCMP fees until the president and Vice President have sat down and had a discussion with them. As Rick said SSS winch competitors don't pay for tow rigs so we would like to have the same deal at least.
Prices will be discussed and posted up as soon as we know so competitors will know exactly what to excpect when you arrive.
Track building will be on 26th of May so we will be talking with the park owners then.
Tough Tracks 4x4 Club has always sat down with park owners before a event and discussed what fees will be charged to competitors so that we can pass this information on. As for spectators you get charged the normal park fees.
We should have made it clear that if you have had your car already scrutineered for this year then you don't need it done again for the next round unless there are some major changes or you wish to change the class that you want to compete in.
Looking forward to round 2 and seeing all of you there.

Come on Benny they aren't gonna pay you to drive in the comp just cause you put on a show and roll it all the time. :finger:
We will be going to LCMP to meet with the owners and discuss fees as we do every other park so that we don't have different fees charged like what happened at Emu Creek a few years back.
So keep ya G String on Benny and let us sort it out for you. :D

Copied this from said problem link:

Ok its Official, We will be doing a night comp on Saturday Night after the raffle.
At the moment Halo Light Bars/Drag Tec have agreed to sponsor this event but this is yet to be 100% confirmed.
This will be a Driver Challenge only,No Navi's, so its going to test the drivers skills wheeling by himself.
These are the General Rules of idea of the night run and this does not go towards your Round scores it is a seperate FUN event which was suggested at the last meeting.

1. Only vehicles/Competitors that are able to enter this event are vehicles/Competitors that have been nominated to compete at that current Round of Tough Tracks 4x4 Challenge
2. The competing vehicle can be run more than once with the navi being able to nominate and drive as well if they want
3. Every time you nominate it will cost $5 in Raffle tickets
4. All Safety regulations apply for vehicle and Driver as it would per Tough Tracks 4x4 Club inc Rules
5. All competing vehicles must have sufficiant 12v lights of some sort.
6. The track will be marked with cones outlining where to drive and the track will go from easy to FN Hard (hopefully depending on the terrain)
7. It is open to any class vehicle and will be run as per vehicle class, which means you will only be competing against fellow class vehicles.
8. The object of the run is to drive as far as you can through the track.
9. There will be no penalty's for stopping or reversing
10. You get 3 goes at an one obstacle if you dont pass that obstacle on your 3rd attempt then you will be classed as finished and your distance marked there.
11. If you TOUCH a cone with any wheel (YES Wheels only)you will be classed as finished and your distance marked there
12. The driver is to stay inside the vehicle at all times while they are competing on the track and may not leave the vehicle until they have finished competing on the track
13. You can not get outside assistance or rock stack
14. There is to be a 0 Blood alchohol reading if you are competing and this WILL be tested at the track before you start
15. If you happen to finish the track then you will go back to the start and start again only this time IT WILL BE alot harder.
16. Depending on sponsors there will be awards for placings

So to put it into laymens terms you get into your car drive as far up the track as you can under your own lights without hitting any cones or getting stuck on obstacles, you stay in your car, no one can help you and when you finish we mark the track with paint where the furtherest most point of your cars tyre is and its measured there and if you get the furtherest in your class then you win. Its that simple. Oh and the Officials decision is final and i wont be using bunting tape.
If its a tie then i'll leave it up to the spectators to decide who drove the best.

It's going to be a good weekend. Ben will post up soon the pricing etc for the weekend.

Main campground will be Cowah Falls, especially for all the buggys and unregistered cars. The gums is right next to this as well for everyone else. Again Ben will clarify all this. I didn't get much time to get all the details, but it all sounds good to me.

The rocks around the place are good, well huge really. I have a few ideas for Challenge Class, everything will come together on the weekend. I am going to try and make loooong tracks so plenty of seat time. It will depend on car numbers and the ease in which a track can be made. Either way, be ready for a long couple of days.

MOST IMPORTANTLY - Get your nominations in early. First you save money on our entry costs. Second - if you do not pre nominate, you WILL NOT get discount park fees. We need to provide a list of competitors to the park, if you have not nominated, we cannot put your name on the list. Simple as that. You can nominate two ways. At the next monthly meeting, or on-line. It worked great for round 1, post up straight away if you have any problems leading into this round.

See you all there.

Thanks Rick, great to see that Challenge Class may have some really long tracks as well - the more seat time the better it will be. Now what about Modified & Trophy Classes eh?

In addition we have a fun run on the Saturday night after the raffle - so plenty of driving in round 2.

We can't emphasise enough - PRE-NOMINATE - or you will pay a S#^TLOAD more for your entry into the park.
