hey guys my mate has a 1fzfe 4 speed auto and it wont change out of fourth gear if he has his head lights turned on then if he turns them off then it changes gear just woundering if any one has herd of it

The 80 series lights are negative switched. Has he tried to fit spotlights or been screwing around with any earths.
Get a multimeter and see if the chassis becomes live when you turn the lights on, if so it could be preventing the auto from having an earth hence it not working when lights are on. Although I do think that if that was the case it would be more than the auto playing up.
