Test drive in a 4.8lL

Post by Samba82 »

Hi guys
Looking for someone around the sunshine coast area that has a 4.8l patrol that can take me for a ride. Thinking of buying one and would like to see what they go like and find out any issues that have been found with that motor.
Thanks
Sam

If you were near newie you could take mine for a run.. but....

Mines running a sprint gas injected setup and I've had no issues what so ever with it.

runs great on fuel and gas, no issues towing a jayco.

I've got one in a Gq lwb, after market ecu, ls1 throttle body and a decent exsaust. Can take you for a spin if you like.
Only problem is fuel use, and upsetting people in expsensive SUV'sthat cannot keep up.

You put a 4.8l in a GQ. Sweet as. Was there much stuffing around or was it a fairly straight swap? Would love to put one in my shorty but never heard of anyone doing it. Hows fuel consumption in a gq being lighter than a GU?

The lime green swb gq that won the outback challenge was running a 4.8L , I think it had a turbo aswell.

Not to hard to fit the engine its self pretty much well bolts in to the mounts and gearbox. Getting electrics sorted was the biggest challenge. The lime green gq mid wheel base of pete has a tb 48 and a turbo.
Fuel consumption 18-24 liters per 100km in wagon, cheap to run nope, fun o yes. The look on peoples faces when they get passed by a ratty old patrol, priceless.

The old man has the 4.8 on gas and petrol

It has plenty of torque and power.

Fuel economy is better then my old 4.2 petrol.

Personally I'd get a 3l, as long as it's latier then 2002 and bigger turbo, exhaust and chip
The gas it.
