4.2 petrol turbo
4.2 petrol turbo
Who in brisbane has done or is getting one done in the near future and what sort of KW are they expecting at the rear wheels and how much is it going to cost them.
Cris's 4 X 4 Accessories & Suspension 0404 736 325 Rock Sliders From $499
Around 200kw at the wheels, cost depends on the many options available.
contact me mcbrowne@tpg.com.au.
I have built a few custom kits including diesel.

Not wanting to hi-jack the thread, but it is possible to produce approx 200kw at the wheels from a TD42. With the right fuel pump, turbo mods and intercooler a friends produces 322HP ATW......but yes it did cost $$.
Again, sorry for hi-jacking your thread

Cheers
Mitch
yep definitely!!!
Talking to someone today and was telling some(read lots!) of the mods he did.
Holy shit!!!! I can only dream.
Mods to motor would cost more than most peoples 4b I would guess
Oh yeah definitely post up what mods where done to get that horsepower cause a lot of interest.
Cheers
Brian

Right, it starts by using Toyota Landcruiser parts to make your Nissan go hard!
Replace the standard Nissan fuel pump head with one from a Landcruiser 1HD-T. The rotating element in the Nissan head is 10mm diameter, while the 1HD-T one is 12mm and hence why it can flow more fuel. Head itself is over $2000 here in NZ, not sure about AU. Find someone that knows what they are doing to install it in your Nissan pump. Fit an aneroid and have it run up on a test bench. Standard Nissan flows approx 57cc of fuel per 1000 shots. Toyota 1HD-T flows approx 72cc of fuel per 1000 shots. So approx 25% more fuel being delivered in the same time frame...... advance the timing a fraction for the sake of it also.
Reco injectors so they break a little higher than standard....about 150 ats.
Rebuild the turbo with a larger compressor wheel. How big will depend on the turbo you've got. We used a 48 trim wheel in the CT26 turbo from a Toyota Celica GT-4, others have made a genuine hybrid from TO3/TO4.
Find the biggest Donaldson air-cleaner you can to flow enough air to your set up, we've gone 4" intake.
Source truck intercooler and go as big as you can physically fit under the bonnet.
The 1HD-T, injector, T03/T04, aircleaner, intercooler combo worked well to produce 322HP ATW in a mates truck at 22psi. He since fitted propane injection and reduced to 16psi for the same performace. Propane only increased his HP but not torque, not sure why?
That truck has done 75,000kms with that set up, now at 265,000kms for the engine. Whipped the pants off it 2 months ago just to check and she's all perfect inside.
hows the economy on it?
Economy is pretty good. Is more efficient than my own truck with same turbo set-up but without the pump mods. Essentially, the truck does all the normal day to day stuff more efficiently with less bother. But if you start to nail it and use the horsepower, then it gets thirsty.
Can achieve similar performance with an aftermarket pump also and it doesn't black smoke as much either....although propane injection seems to clear that right up.

who wants a diesel.....the torque equals the owners....

Yup I am being bent right over at the moment....Firstly its a PETROL 4.2 carb - dual fuel. NO TOYOTA Parts. Petrol side...electric fuel pump (Nissan Skyline R31 $71.50) Don't be a pleb man up for Nissan Multi-point injection($330) but don't buy the injectors nor the dizzy....then step up to the plate order bigger injectors ($735)that flow about 470cc and then get your pleb dizzy locked with a igniter and electronic coil ($320)and while your there buy the Wolf 3D ver3 computer setup with wank display ($1395).....Turbo manifold and Swhitzer Turbo - ready to run 18 psi all day everyday ($2800)....then comes the clutch to handles the raping that will be a comin ($500) custom clutch (sorry GQ Trol left the daiken idea)...then chase up a mate who works for a truck company and tax a Freightliner Front mount intercooler....chop to size and retank if real keen...then for lpg new converter and Mixer one that pushes the gas not sucks it in. $?? I havent bought that yet - so can't post the pain

Lastly realize the lift I am currently running is too much for the new burnout rig and have to drop tyre size and coils.....

PM if ya want pix or to see the $8000 hole in the wallet!

and yes it will be worth every
