Where can I buy sliders for draws????
Hey I am about to start a setup for my tray. Toolboxes and a like and wondering where can I find the long slide out runners for my draws to run on? Any help is much appreciated
Re: Where can I buy sliders for draws????
I bought some that were from a kitchen shop(made the cabinets). They had a catalogue that had thousands for different runners with different weight ratings.
Mine were 900mm long and can take around 100kgs

Just a thought, if they are on the tray and subject to dirt, mud & trash consider just simple metal on metal slides. The unit1 wrote:Hey I am about to start a setup for my tray. Did a set for my son ( tradie ) in the back of his VW transporter - Typical tradie, rarely cleans out the work unit
Simply by making sure that all is square you can get the drawers to slide in and out very easily. - All he uses on them every 6 months is a little candle wax
Also the amount of weight he carries in them is crazy - 150kg+ of tools, equipment etc and yet they still work very easily.
Even his mum and GF can slide them quite easily and they are no Amazons
They are made from 20mm square tube , arc welded and 9 ply is the woodwork. It was also easier to make
And now he even uses the rear drawer as a work bench , its that solid

Re: Where can I buy sliders for draws????
Ive made 3 sets of drawers form the rear of the GU over the last 7 years, each an improvement over the previous (in terms of design/function)
I got my drawer runners from Nikpol in Moorabbin:
http://www.nikpol.com.au/storage/ball-b ... e-mounting" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
3 piece ball bearing runners per side, with the ability to remove the drawer if required(some dont allow this). Rated at 80kgs.
However, also try Accuride Drawer runners,

available at Concept Latch in Brunswick Vic.

E bay. Search for draws.
Those who choose to drive in the mud do so because they can't drive the rocks.
Re: Where can I buy sliders for draws????
TJM Underwood sells the sliders.
you can get locking ones or non locking.
They are rated at about 100 kilos.
I thing they are about $110ish for the pair.

The rails they have there look almost identical to server rack rails ( for rack mounted computer gear .. I wonder what the weight rating on my rack rails would be ... some servers can be quite heavy + 40 ish Kgs when fully populated )

Re: Where can I buy sliders for draws????
I used runners off an old brownbuilt filing cabinet. they worked well for a 60l fridge but didnt deal well with dirt.
Re: Where can I buy sliders for draws????
steel on steel with some candle wax, will take alot more weight than those ball-bearing runners, and they are suprisingly easy to slide, not as easy as the ball-bearing units, but a chit load cheaper too!.
