Exo roll cages in NSW
I'm just wondering what the legalities are of a exo roll cage in nsw are. Even if it's removable but having mounts on the chassis?

Re: Exo roll cages in NSW
I have indeed seen them engineered in NSW. However, probably easier to just insist that it's a "ladder rack" which is completely legal

Re: Exo roll cages in NSW
I have seen them on the road, some certified, some not.
I was told by an engineer about a year ago....
As long as the tubework doesnt impact on the drivers vision, then A/B/C pillar tubes are ok, even the tube below the windscreen is fine if its not in the drivers normal line of sight.
But like Milo said, they arent exo cages, they are front nudge bars, side rails/steps, and ladder racks.

Wow for once Queensland has it easier then nsw.

It states up here there is no approval needed. And I have confirmed with transport

Rims flipped from $50
Re: Exo roll cages in NSW
under the new and current regs my engineer flat out said no , not as a heavy duty roof rack, not as a chassis mounted roof rack, not a an external cage. Previous laws yes but now no chance legally
Re: Exo roll cages in NSW
So, can I get my truck engineered in QLD if I live in NSW??stock 4runner wrote:Wow for once Queensland has it easier then nsw.

Re: Exo roll cages in NSW
THE FUN POLICE ARE JUST MAKING IT HARDER.. our kids wont know about going wheelin in paddock bashers or dirt bikes in the bush as the FUN POLICE will have all the areas they could play in shut down by then.. They wont be able to have a modified truck or car because by the time they get a license the FUN POLICE will have too many restrictions in place that they probably cant change the seat covers. I understand safety ect but I think they are going too far by just saying NO!!! they should give an alternative.
I was thinking of building my sons 1st car, a 4.2 TD GQ chassis & running gear with a Nissan D40 dual cab dumped on as the body, well that just a dream now. & as for the type of toys I used to build to play in will only ever be a memory now.

Re: Exo roll cages in NSW
If you think something like getting an exo approved is hard, try getting any workcover licences (forklift, ewp, dogman, rigger, crane, hiab etc) ANYTHING next year.
New assesments will mean longer, more expensive courses (at least twice) and will be alot more rigorous testing. eg. having to know numerous formulas for driveing a forklift.
Gov. agences are farked.....
