Got a tb 48 in my patrol running an autronics SM4 ecu.
A few months ago it developed an occsional missfire. This has slowly got more and more common, until last night it would only run on 5 cylinders. Checked for a spark and number 1 cylinder has no spark. The coil had a strange molton blob on the side so figured that was the problem. Drove the car to work on 5 cylinders (not the best idea but no other means of getting there) The miss fire got worse now only 3 cylinders running. The coils on cylinders 4 & 5 have got the same molten blob on the side now too.
Ordered some new coils this morning $200 each ouch. Now before I put the new coils on can anyone think of any reason these coils are failing other than old age ? Would hate to fry the new coils.
Any ideas welcome, thanks Feral

Can't really help other than my problems in http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/viewtopic ... 2&t=213661.
Only really shows who would have more of an idea around here.
