G;day after any info on lift kits for 2004 hilux
just after a 2inch lift but so many to choose from i have 31s and front and rear lockers and no bar work but my standard suspension is flogged front wheels are scrubing big time and never use too and rear leafs are bent backwards pretty much
do i still need new torsion bars even though i have no frontal bar work???? or do i wind the old ones up
what is the purpose of ball joint spacers/ and do suspension kits normally come with theses
thinking rancho 5000 shocks and tough dog leaves any other recomendations

You can use the existing torsion bar to save money, or you can buy a super heavy duty one for extra strength, depending on the terrain you tackle.
Rancho are a great shock very popular and good value.
1" diff spacers to move the diff forward will reduce the tyre fouling on gaurd too, hope info helps

huh? @ ozzymoe I'm not sure how a diff spacer would move it forward...
You don't need "heavy duty" torsion bars waste of cash just wind the stock ones up even with barwork they are fine just bs to get new ones.. If you'd prefer keeping the tiny bit of travel they have and saving the life on cv's keep it wound down and get a balljoint spacer kit this gives the required lift while allowing the cv angle to stay the same.
Suspension kits don't normally come with ball joint spacers basically a totally different kit, on the rear do not change the leaf the IFS rear leafs they are a great leaf and awesome for flex just put some 2" extended shackles, inboard the shocks, balljoint spacer kit new shocks and possibly a little wind up in the torsion bars, new shocks all round and you should be happy with that until you get sick of the IFS.

I would probably suggest a body lift and try prevent winding the torsion bars up, once you wind them up you will notice your cv's breaking alot more frequently, not fun changing in the bush (n)

Had a 4runner for 6 months when I bought it torsions were wound up all the way never broke a CV, you only break them if you can't choose a decent line and don't rev the cars tits off with the tyre in the air.

I had a 4runner years ago. Wound the torsion bars up 2inches, ran 31s fine, no scrubbing ever.
Anymore than 2inches with the torsion bars, and you may start having issues. But 2 inches should be fine.
As for the rear leaves, if they are shaped more like a 'W', then maybe have them reset. Then open the spring clamps a bit to allow the spring to move more.

Besides throwing a different front end under it have you thought about throwing a drop diff kit under it?
Im twin locked with a drop diff kit under it aswell as a 2' body lift and I run 33's fine without scrubbing, took it down to yalwal on the weekend and took it up six stage with minimal problems.
the kit basically levels out your cv's to reduce the need to wind your torsion bars up and the brackets that your given simply push everything ontop up 2', you can then wind your torsion bars up if you want (reduces the whole purpose of the kit) to run 35's.
If you start winding your torsion bars up you'll notice the front end getting stiffer then what it already is, in the rear I run 1' lift blocks, 2' extended shackles and 2' springs however Ive unpacked them as they were just way to stiff. I have the rancho's front and rear and the TT leafs.
