2L Diesel Turbo Conversion-is it worth it?

G'day guys,
I own a 1985 Toyota 4Runner with the 2L 2.4 diesel. It's a good little reliable motor, but man is it gutless, especially running 33's.

Anyway, I've been offered a turbo kit for it, but I'm just wondering if it's worth it? Will it really make much difference in terms of power and driveability? Obviously it still won't be a power house, but would it make it much better?
Any information would be much appreciated, maybe you've done this conversion yourself?

Cheers guys.

Worth it if the motor can handle it. How many ks on the motor? Does it go threw oil? Much blow by? Much smoke?

I put a CT-20 turbo off at 2.4 turbo onto my 3L (2.8) motor and it made a heap of difference, particularly at highway speeds but also made a difference down low.
It's way cheaper and easier than an engine conversion. You should get a pyrometer for it too so you can keep an eye on exhaust temps.
Here's the write up I did when I installed mine. Since I was starting from scratch I just searched the net until I found enough details to be confident in pulling it off.

like i said befor you install it do a few checks or it might blow the motor up and a turbo kit is useless if the motor wont run

She's got 336,000kms on her, but it runs very well, doesn't use any oil and not a lot of smoke at all. All in all a good motor

one thing to watch is there is two versions of the 2L. they fit different turbo manifolds and use different turbo's.

no idea from age. both engines where used at the same time and it may not even be the original engine.
