Hi I'm looking at doing a conversion to TD27 replacing my old and stuffed Z24 in my D21
Has anybody done this ???
My main concern is the wiring , Fuel and if i can convert a Auto motor to manual and use my current FS5W71C gear box.
I am going to pick up a complete donor Terrano so that i can swap over all the factory gear.
Any help Thx

Z24 to TD27T Conversion
Re: Z24 to TD27T Conversion
If your going to put the time and effort in, have you thought about a zd30 instead? The results would be chalk and cheese.
One thing to think about, is would the z24 manual cope with the additional torque of the td27. I am not saying it wont, just something to think about.

Re: Z24 to TD27T Conversion
have you thought about a ka24e out of a d22?
it will bolt into your mounts bolt up to your gearbox, easyer to find and cheaper. may need sump mods hardest part would be wiring it up and thats not that hard
easy to boost later on if you want more power out of it.
just a thought

Re: Z24 to TD27T Conversion
Hey Guys
Yeah ive looked into both the ZD30 and the KA24E ,
The ZD30 is just too expensive to buy and the KA24E is a good motor but im looking to set up the nav for torque and the TD27T fits the bill.
I even looked into putting a 3.2 diesel from a D22 and turbo but keeping things as close to factory as possible makes engineering easier.
I will let you know how it goes

Re: Z24 to TD27T Conversion
I have a D21 which has had the 2.7 diesel removed and a td27 fitted. It's a good ute but because the td27 doesn't rev as high as the naturally aspirated diesel, my highway gearing is no good. You might not encounter this as badly because the petrol diffs are 4.625:1 where my diesel diffs are 4.875:1. I'm in the process of chasing the 4.3:1 diffs from a v6 D21 to make it more economical. Few possible hurdles, gearbox fitment, mounts, clutch setup, driveshaft lengths, centre bearing? Not sure if the petrol and diesel driveshafts are the same? Just something to think about.
Re: Z24 to TD27T Conversion
When i do the conversion i am going to buy a complete Terrano and swap the motor, box, driveline , electrics etc
So effectively I will end up with a Terrano with a D21 Nav body.
