Thoughts and advice needed. Turbo Lux halp

Post by DUDELUX »

Hey hey guys.

I have a good oppurtunity, maybe, but I need some advice before I go ahead with it.

I have a CT20 turbo, and a custom manifold here for my 2L engine, a guy I know needs a CT20 for his 3L, he already has a manifold to suit.
I can give him my CT20, an he will give me a Garrett T03/Air Research M10 and a manifold to suit my early 2L engine.
Its in good nick.

Any upsides/downsides to running the Garrett T03/Air Research M10 on a 2L diesel??

Thoughts, advice and opinions needed.

Ok, go.....

See if you can get some specs (the ratio's) off the net and someone will be able to tell you if exactly what the difference will be. T03 sounds big for a 2L but it depends on the specs. I like bigger turbo's personally they come on later but harder, depends if you need the boost early or not too.

Wouldn't you want it to boost early? My stance on swaps is the other person wouldn't be doing it unless it was better for them. And seriously tony like its ever gonna get fitted :finger:

The guy has a freshly rebuilt 3L, and bought a manifold off me a while back, but his turbo doesnt suit the manifold.
He said he can buy a CT20 off ebay for around 400ish, so I guess its easier for him to swap me for my CT20, and he gives me the T3 and manifold, and everyone wins. Hes not out of pocket, and Im not either, I think.

Screw yoo Nate yoo hippy.

I spoke to him earlier today about this, and he said that the turbo is an Air Research M10, but then Garrett bought them out, so its now labelled Garrett T03, or something.

The only thing I might get caught up with, is lines, pipework, hoses, etc. But it should be all straight forward.
