Exo bars

Post by Shieldsy »

I'm thinking of putting Exo bars on my a pillar and down the gutters on my shorty, my question is

Is there anyway to do it strong enough so I don't have to cut holes through the roof so water can't get it etc..I had a idea of making a plate with the same folds as the roof and welding tube along it and somehow bolting it to the roof. Would this work?

What would yous do?

Cheers

These are roof sliders, its welded to the gutter and to the piller. An inch of weld every few 100mm.

Looks tidy as.

So just welded to body seems to be strong enough? Thanks for the reply

This is the rest off the info from the above pic, they charge $150 to do both sides on LWB wagon, unpainted.

This was a budget truck set up to get scott some experience and help scratch the itch while his GU comp rig was being put together.
We just pushed them up against the roof and stitched them straight to the gutter, not my classiest work but hey, did the job. Scott used them to great effect on one of the last suspension stuff challenge tracks, slid the full length of the roof along a tree, a bit of paint off but no damage at all. It's going to be a pretty big hit to move the rail. It spreads the load across the whole length of the gutter and roof thus not moving.

Any one wants this mod done, it's only $150.

scott ran a bead of silastic between the tube and roof to keep crap out of the gutter and cause rusting.[/QUOTE]
