Split second row seats [80 Series]

Post by De-lux »

Hi all,

I've got a 1992 HZJ80 base model, which has barn doors, a cargo barrier and a one piece "fold and tumble" second row of seats. After the years of ownership I have lamented on removing the cargo barrier so I don't have to put surfboards on the roof racks (or timber from bunings!) and put it in the car.

I'm about to remove the cargo barrier (it'll go on ebay) and would like to have some 60/40 or even 50/50 seats so I can fold one down for the surfboards and still have room for one or two in the back.

So, did any LandCruisers 80 series' come out with split fold seats?

Yea, I had a 95 gxl and it had the 50/50 seats. Right up until I rolled it... If they haven't had holes eaten in them by mice I will probably be selling them if your keen. Im in rocky though

aaah awesome... so the GLX & Sahara models have 50/50 fold? That is good news. I guess I'll call some ripoff wreckers

hey mate dont bother!

they dont fit!

well the right hand one does, but not the left.

the orignal seat was held in by 6 bolts,( 3 hindges across the bottom) the 50/50 ones( 2 hindges per seat) i have are held in by 8.

you could drill a hole out and put a nut insert in there but then that can get into the legal sides, with insurance etc, if they notice.

i guess i can look on the bright side, i can now take one more person on camping trips! :)

The holes are in place, just not the back plates and captive screws. I changed from one piece to split rears and just added reinforced plates which I inserted through the fuel tank sender gauge access point....
