Gday all,
My old mans Jimny 08 has an intersting steering wobble at 70-80kms....
It is completely standard except for a set of brand new bridgestone dueler A/Ts which were balanced and alligned recently.
I had a look under it and found the King Pin bearings on the drivers side to have play in them. I pulled all this down and replaced the kingpin bearings in this side..... Now there is no movement.
The wobble is alot less then before but still very much present..... The passenger side has no play and the bearings are all tight. All ball joints seem intact and wheels and tyres are good.....
I noticed there is no shims in the kingpins on these Jimnys to adjust preload......
Has anyone had these issues and had to fix them? My old man only takes this thing out fire trails for bush walks etc and its causing him grief and i have fixed / checked and tightened everything i can.....
Any help on ideas? anyone use aftermarket steer dampener kits or anything on these?
cheers
Screwy

You could probably fit a damper which would fix the problem for a while.
Its is a unique to Jimny thing and as far as i know there is no "complete fix", Everything is a patch up until it happens again
It could be one thing doing it or 10 things contributing to it in the front end.
Bit of a read but a good thread http://www.auszookers.com/forum/viewtop ... mny+wobble" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
