blown td42

Post by hnm8376 »

any diesel tech out there ......................
had a td42 fully rebuilt new turbo, rebuilt injector pump, rebuilt or new everything. then drove it straight to the dyno and had it set up 90rwkw on 35's on 13 psi. Motor set me back 12,000 appox nearly 10,000 k down the road motor locked up in four cylinders and cut out. when I come to a stop at the side of the road I notice coolant spaying up between guard and bonnet, running up my bonnet towards my window. The water had no steam comming off it and so I touched it, it was warm, not HOT. MY PYRO was reading 400 and TEMPT was reading HALF when motor let go. the tempt went up to 3/4 then started going back down. With in 30min the tempt had gone back under half so I put 4 litres of water I had down the radiator and it fired up. I shut it straight down as there was gray plumes blasted out the back and it was running like shit looks like another full rebuilt but can't work out how this motor let go. cooling system was still pressureized, even when my mate (a mechanic himself) check it out the next day ANY CLUES WANT COULD HAVE CAUSE THIS

No way. 4.2s don't grenade. You must be imagining things. ;)
