Dual cab child restraint anchor points

I contacted Iveco and the Daily 4x4's are not fitted with child restraint anchors.

Has anyone fitted them to the dual cab daily? 2wd shares the same body.

I would like to have them ordered before the truck arrives so I can use it over Christmas,
The ones on ebay are $300+ each which seems crazy - especially as I want to fit 4 (not that we are planning on having 4 kids).

A few years back now I had to get some put into a car that was imported. Ended up being a huge ordeal. It ended up costing $1100 to get 3 put into a car had to have a engineer put them in and signed off before having the RTA sign off on them.

Sounds like other stories I have heard.
A mate of mine can throw a blue plate on them - I just need to find and install suitable bracketry.
Most I have seen are for parcel shelf's - not rear walls.

Maybe I can go over the seat and mount them below shoulder height with the $9 parcel shelf ones - that way they are still in tension not bending.

I have no idea what kind of room you have but I know you can install a taxi bar and use it.

Bru, you will have to be careful of the seat if you do that. Once you go below 100mm below the top of the seat then the seat need to be able to withstand the load as well. Quite a few cant if it wasnt designed as such.

In regards to the bracketry, you can make it yourself. You can permanently fit a plate with a 5/16 nut welded to it behind a body panel (which is pretty much how all the RAWS vehicles are). They are not very big, about 2" long by about 1" wide.

It only has to with stand a pull of 3.4Kn, its not designed to stop the child, its designed to stop the seat rotating in the seat belt.

ADR34/02 gives you all the dimensional requirements, if you do it to that then your mate should be able to sign it off. There are plenty of people who can pull test it for you.

Contact any child restraint fitting company in your state, they will be able to do it for you with the appropriate state approval or will be able to tell you were to take it to get it fitted. We have a company called Little's in NSW so try to find something similar and they can push you in the right direction.

As Mark said try Littles at Blacktown as they have fitted child seats to everything!
You might need what is called a dual cab device. Some bolt thru the rear wall some bolt over the rear window. Be warned they can be pricey!

Hehehehe, before you do give TMR a call. I just had a look at the child restraint section of the NCOP.

It seems they only allow 5 different variations of un tested anchorages for modified vehicles and the one you would most likely need is the dual cab anchorage as Mark and Turbo GU said. This bar is way larger than anything that is fitted to a new vehicle that I have seen, or even a RAWS vehicle for that matter.

I would say they make you do this because its a known quantity.

The method I suggested may need full testing to the ADR which would be beneficial to you if you decided to build these things full time. Seeing as they don't specifically list a method manufacturing a mount then you may have to put a proposal to them. Looking at the scope of the section for child restraints it says these methods 'may' be used. It also says that anchorages that have not been 'tested' will not be accepted so if you can convince them your design is OK after being tested then you may be in with a shot.

I didn't read it all but your engineer will be able to guide you better. If you were to eventually go ADR certification through the Federal Government then manufacturing and testing the anchorages is a completely acceptable method of compliance.

There are crab bars but there are other options. The simple dual cab device which is basically the same as the ones in MK's photo. They are pretty cheap. I know Littles has a huge range of approved mounts for a lot of different vehicles

My uncle owns a company called "Safe T Ride", and does this sort of stuff along with handicap conversion vans and the like.
He's on the Gold Coast. Just google it.....I've lost his number. :-)
