got a return to centre type dampener on the hilux, solid axle, unsure of brand but anyways the prob is that its not quite returning to centre!.. the car pulls a bit to the left just wondering how easy are these to ajust, and do i compress the spring, or back it off a bit to get it to move the wheels right a bit??
thanks in advance! cheers!

bear in mind i dont really know what im talkinmg about :D

the RTC damper will have the spring returning to its centre of travel

ie so it can extend evenly in both right and left directions

is the mounting position for an end of the dampner movable? have seen some that use a clamp which goes around the tie rod or whatever and then attaches to one end of the dampner.

if so move it :)

otherwise got no idea :S

To adjust it, you need to loosen the spring mounting clamps on the damper body and with your wheels in the straight ahead position allow the spring to pull / push the clamp untill it is not under load and then tighten the clamp and away you go.

Loosen clamps a bit, tap about 6mm away from direction its pulling (mark on tube with texta) tighten, go for a test driven, repeat. until right. Adj small amount at a time. (reverses direction if it pulls worse)
Ensure its neutral when on a Flat bit of rd not on a cambered rd.

try it without the spring. if your caster, toe and KPI are ok then you don't need the return to centre spring, all it does is mask expensive problems cheaply.

And how! Going from a 4Way RTC damper to an OME was a huge difference! It's a bit hard to handle on windy freeways now!

They don't really do much on a lux, I drove without mine after it broke for about 5 months, and didn't even know it was missing
