dual transfer on r151f

Post by luxydean »

Hey guys having some trouble getting my head around the situation.
At the moment I have an r151 with a chain drive transfer case with a vaccum set up on it out of a 2lte surf.
what I want to do it is to adapt a forward shift transfer with electronic speedo off a g52.
I can only find adapters that allow a top shift transfer case to the r151f.
but id also like to use a dual transfer case setup from marlin crawler.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Dean

You can buy a kit from Trail gear that converts a forward shift to a top shift.

First decide on your budget then that will tell you what brand to run with, Trail gear overall will be cheaper but Marlin make better stuff so totally up to you.

You'll need the Chain to gear drive adaptor to be able to physically bolt up the gear drive transfer.
You'll need a top shift conversion kit, why do you want to stick with forward shift?
You'll also need a 23 spline input shaft as the R151 is a 23spline and the G52 is a 21 spline.

Do you have a duals setup already?

If you do then just buy the 23 spline input shaft/gear and put it in the front transfer so you can bolt it up and then hook up the twin transfer setup behind that with your existing 21 spline adaptor etc.

If you DONT have a twin setup already and your starting from scratch then just buy all the twin transfer parts in 23 spline as it is nearly identical price and no extra work as either way you need to disassemble the transfer case to run behind a 23spline gearbox.
