I was reading something in the latest 4wd action mag they were talking about putting an insert/sleeve in the panhard bar when replacing the bush to stop the bushes twisting on them self's, does anyone have any more info on this like inner diameter of insert?
cheers Shane

There's your first mistake
More info would help.
What vehicle are you interested in?
Most bushes have a sleeve/crush tube bonded in the rubber (loose sleeve with poly bushes) the sleeve stops bolts being over-tightened and crushing mounting brackets, it also locates the bush within the mounting brackets.
The sleeve also means any load on the bush is spread over a larger surface area compared to pushing or twisting against a relatively thin bolt

Sorry, GU patrol 2000 4.2TD wagon. I have the new genuine bushes ready to go in but read this before I had a chance to fit them so thought I would check it out.
The bushes I have have a tube inside them as you say but none on the outside like a caster bush, the bush is very soft so can see why you would want to make it a tight fit when inserting it but just wanted more info.
cheers Shane.
