Hi I am looking at a set of 4 Silverstone 6 ply 280x85 m/t tyres, and was wondering how good they are for bushwork?
Are they a radial, or rag, what are they worth new??

I've kicked around on silverstones for about 2 years, lil different to the mt's but they're really good in most applications(my ones- again) only made in a 31x10.5xr15 SQ773's.. (pics included)
the MT's are good from what I've seen on the tracks... Price is good too, compared to bfg's or the like

Another S'stone tyre is the 33x12.5xR16 MT117sport- 3or4 ply sidewall, side lugs good self cleaning- they are directional tyres, however, don't compare them to the old 35x11.5 rag tyre- different ball park! Pics included 4ya

I have been running the 35x11x16 Silverstone MT117s exclusively for around 4 years now and they are awesome. I have seen centipedes do better in some situations but for the price they are a killer extreme tyre and should not be classed as a mud terrain.
I also recently won the road registered class of the Australian mud racing association...so they certainly hammer in the goo.
Like most extreme tyres...simex, claws, swampers, etc...they will wear faster and can be tricky to balance but both my wife and I run them on our daily driver/comp cars, and they do the trick.
The MT117 is a rag radial requiring tubes. I run them at 5 to 8 psi on 16x7 alloys and have never popped a bead (with no bead locks).
The MT117 Sport is a steel belted tubeless and wears a little better. I still have one of the orighinal test sets that is getting low but has done over 70,000 ks.
BOTH TYRES ARE DOT APPROVED FOR AUSTRALIA.

I am interested in running the 280/85/16 MT117 cross ply, and know a few people running them but would like to hear experiences of others. Who has grooved the centre rib of them (and any other parts) what were the results and any pics??? What are they like on rock (and wet rock), and any other info???

Dadylonglegs and myself have both run the MT117's grooved on our Landy's before I defected to Swampas and Bill to Simex's then me to a heavier Nissan.
Found they flexed a lot better ran them on the 90 Hybrid in Ateco 1998 at 4 PSI on std Rangie Rims with Tubes. IMO 35 x 11.5 Simexs work better.

I have run them for years , I Think back in 1998 i started to use them
Seen the rianforest chllenge when it was sponsered by silverstone-
I still have them and only used them to drive to comps and compete,
Allthough i think my application on the zook,s is probly a little different then using them on a heavier vehicle , people say get swampers at the time couldn,t warrant spending double what i spent ,
These tire are in my eyes beyond approach in the mud , of a tire of equivelent size , Pic of proof This pic is exiting the bog hole at a zukana
The opponents vehicles running swampers , boggers, and claws.
Our car was the ONLY vehicle to make the exit ramp out of the hole unadded , Not a one off, my missus drove it too.
We have heap of placings in the , Even the controversial TT MUD (we have the trophy) IN TT I Cut the Centre tread after talking withLockee and a few others The tires by this time where starting to show there age a little, They still done great as we where conserned - we run them on 4psi whithout tubes

I think maybe mtr,s then swamp simex, followed by silver in rock performance , but just my opinion
